On Fox News Sunday, Vance was asked about Trump’s 2024 statement that California must spend aid money wisely. He clarified that Trump is committed to improving federal disaster response.
“President Trump cares about all Americans,” Vance said. “FEMA and other agencies will be better prepared.” He added that Trump would welcome a visit to California and emphasized the need for competent governance at both state and federal levels.
Vance criticized Governor Gavin Newsom’s leadership, blaming poor state management for worsening wildfires. “Some reservoirs have been dry for decades, and fire hydrants are running out of water,” he noted.
Meanwhile, California Democrats launched a legal fund to counter Trump’s policies. Newsom called a special session to “Trump-proof” the state, prompting Trump to respond on Truth Social, accusing Newsom of blocking efforts to “Make California Great Again.”
