David Castle was shocked to find his elderly neighbor, Mrs. Olivia Madison, living in her old, broken-down car, despite owning a beautiful house. After discovering her situation, David insisted she come stay with him and his wife, Lydia. Mrs. Madison revealed she had been unable to cope with the loss of her husband, Charley, and the painful emptiness of their home. She had moved into her car two years ago to escape the memories.
David and Lydia were heartbroken but resolved to help. David arranged for a home restoration expert to inspect Mrs. Madison’s house, only to find it covered in toxic mold. The Fire Department determined the best course of action was to burn the house down to prevent the mold from spreading.
Devastated, Mrs. Madison agreed, and David reassured her she would always have a home with them. In a bid to find her a new place, David rallied the neighbors, and a real estate agent proposed selling her property to a developer who was building an assisted living community. Mrs. Madison sold her land for a fair price and was able to live in one of the new cottages for life.
Thanks to David’s kindness, Mrs. Madison found a new home in the neighborhood she loved, next door to her friends, the Castles.
