Alex trudged up the short pathway and slumped against the side of his old trailer. He poked at a rust spot peeking out beneath a flaking curl of paint and sighed. He needed to fix up the trailer, but a janitor’s salary didn’t leave much money to save for such expenses. He shook his head and headed inside, out of the chill, but stopped short when he spotted a package on his doorstep. “Who’s sending me stuff?” he muttered, rubbing his eyes. Life had not been kind lately, and he hoped it wasn’t some prank.
