Liz Cheney Freaks Out about Potentially Being Jailed after Over 100 J6 Files Discovered Missing

Former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, a former member of the January 6 Committee, pushed back after allegations surfaced that she destroyed over 100 files related to the committee’s investigation.

The controversy began after Donald Trump accused the committee on December 8 of destroying evidence that could have exonerated him. Rep. Barry Loudermilk, who reviewed the committee’s work, claimed key documents and videos were missing, saying it appeared they were deliberately not preserved, violating House rules.

Trump criticized Cheney and others, stating, “They deleted and destroyed all evidence. In a civil case, you go to jail.” When asked if Cheney should face jail time, Trump replied, “They’ll have to look at that … they can do whatever they want.”

Cheney fired back, calling Trump’s accusations “ridiculous and false.” She labeled his comments an “assault on the rule of law” and denied any legal basis for punishment, adding, “There is no factual or constitutional basis for what Trump is suggesting.”

The dispute highlights ongoing tensions over the January 6 investigation and its handling of evidence.
