On Friday, President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social that he revoked former President Joe Biden’s security clearances and access to daily intelligence briefings, citing Biden’s alleged memory issues as a national security risk.
“There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information,” Trump wrote, adding that Biden set this precedent in 2021 by blocking Trump’s access to briefings after leaving office.
Trump referenced Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on Biden’s mishandling of classified documents, which highlighted frequent memory lapses but did not recommend criminal charges.
Meanwhile, Federal Election Commission Chairwoman Ellen Weintraub rejected Trump’s attempt to fire her, claiming the move was illegal. “There’s a legal way to replace FEC commissioners—this isn’t it,” Weintraub posted on social media.
In another political clash, Democratic Reps. Judy Chu and Gwen Moore confronted House Speaker Mike Johnson about Elon Musk’s access to a Treasury Department payment system. Chu accused Musk’s team of gaining unauthorized access to sensitive tax information, though officials clarified it was “read-only” access.
Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency is leading significant cost-cutting reforms, sparking widespread backlash from Democrats.
