My Wife Was in a Coma and I Read Her Diary for Comfort, I Wish I Never Had

A 39-year-old man wrote to our editorial seeking guidance on his extremely problematic family situation. His statement seemed like a genuine cry for help, and the man appeared desperate.

He had found and read his wife’s diary while she was in a coma, hoping to find comfort. Instead, he was devastated by what he discovered about her anger and paranoia.

The man began his letter by explaining that his wife had been in a coma for eight days after a bad accident. He was uncertain if she would ever wake up, and the fear and grief were overwhelming. They had been married for 15 years, and he considered her his best friend.

One night, feeling emotionally drained, he lay on her side of the bed, trying to find comfort in the scent of her lotion. When he opened her drawer to get the lotion, he found her diary. Although he had never read it before, he felt compelled to do so, desperate for any connection to her.

As he read, he discovered his wife’s deep resentment towards other women. She wrote angry entries about her female friends and social media followers, accusing them of trying to undermine their marriage. She was furious if any woman followed him online or interacted with him, even in the most innocent ways.

The man was shocked by the intensity of her jealousy, especially since none of the women had ever done anything inappropriate. He was left devastated and unsure of what to do with the troubling information he had uncovered.
